About MARs Exploration and Energy, LLC
At MARs E&E, we would like to use our personal, professional, and scientific experience to help you make the best decisions about your oil and gas, carbon management, or other geologically-focused projects.
PROFESSIONAL:
MARs E&E President, Michael Raines, has over 29 years of development / operational experience, primarily in the Permian Basin, northern New Mexico, the Texas Panhandle, and Oklahoma. Mr. Raines has used some great applied technologies like 3D and 4D surface and cross-well seismic, reservoir characterization, and (more importantly) integrated teams to optimize water floods, CO2 floods (Enhanced Oil Recovery projects), and to do a little exploration. Mike has also worked on evaluations of five carbon storage concepts in four basins across two states, three of which have advanced past preliminary evaluation stages.
Mike is an American Association of Geologists (AAPG) Certified Petroleum Geologist (# 6308), holds a License through the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (# 1506), and is a Society of Independent Professional Geologists (SIPES) Certified Earth Scientist (# 3575).
Mr. Raines participated in AAPG governance (the House of Delegates) for many years, is a former officer of the AAPG Division of Professional Affairs (the certification arm of AAPG), and is a charter member of the AAPG Division of Environmental Science.

PERSONAL:
Mike is a 4th generation Texan interested in many aspects of the history of this great state. As a former non-science major, Mike took a detour through the scenic route in college before discovering his true passion: Geology. These additional experiences rounded out his college experience helped make him a better communicator.
Corporate pursuits and certifications are not the "end and and be all" for us as humans, we must also give back to our communities through volunteerism. Mike has focused his efforts on science and business non-profits in that regard. Michael has considerable experience with leadership in local non-profit geoscience organizations, WTGS and Permian Basin Section of the Society for Sedimentary Geology (PBS-SEPM), having served in multiple positions (including President) for both Societies. Mr. Raines has also served as Treasurer (2006/2008) and President (2016/2017) for the SWS-AAPG (a regional geoscience community covering the area from North Texas to the DFW Metroplex and across the Permian Basin to Eastern New Mexico), and is currently chair of the Midland Chapter of SIPES.
In summary, MARs E&E wants to use these experience to help your company optimize your reservoirs, prepare for (or improve) EOR operations, evaluate your Carbon Storage concepts, or get a feel for the amount of risk involved in a new exploration of development project. Mike's resume' is available upon request. Don't hesitate to reach out and let us know how MARs Exploration and Energy, LLC can best serve you. Special projects that don't fit the mold may also find a home here.
